Is Nutrition Research Biased?

Is it really a surprise to know that scientists will lie to support the company that paid for the research?

Conclusions: Industry funding of nutrition-related scientific articles may bias conclusions in favor of sponsors’ products, with potentially significant implications for public health.

It’s no wonder that there is so much conflicting and confusing evidence about what we SHOULD eat and what foods we should AVOID. The critical factor is: who is trying to sell us what? The systemic problem comes from the fact that most of the money for the research comes from corporations, not public agencies or charities.

Being conscious about our food choices is one of the most important factors for heath.

McDonalds “burns” some karma

Gas Companies and McDonalds

Fast Fuel?

When I think of McDonalds, I don’t associate them with environmental sustainability. Well, it looks like the executives at Mickey D’s are looking to change that perception. In association with the Neutral Fuels in the United Arab Emirates (also looking to change their image), they are converting “waste” french fry oil into Diesel fuel, which burns 50% cleaner than diesel derived from fossil fuel.

Creating the awareness that a “normal” diesel engine in a car can also use bio-diesel is an awesome first step. While the destructive impact of McDonalds on our planet is (arguably) enormous, any opportunity to reshape our planet for the better is welcome in my book, regardless of where it comes from. The executives at McD have the resources and the marketing machine to potentially make a dramatic shift in the way we look at fuel in this country.

If they choose to do so.
